The Pipes of War
________________________________________________________________
The Pipes of War website is your gateway to the films, stories,
and voices that bring the warrior pipers of history back to life.
“This is not just war history—it’s the soundtrack of courage.
The Pipes of War dives into the stories behind the bagpipes that led men into battle."
Paradigm Motion Picture Co. is developing an epic trilogy of films about the three pipers in history who earned the Victoria Cross. Together they form the Pipes of War series: The Hero of Dargai: Piper George Findlater, VC, The Piper of Loos: Daniel Laidlaw, VC, and Unparalleled Valour: The Story of James Richardson, VC.
From the North-West Frontier of India to the killing fields of Loos and the Somme, these films bring to life the men who carried bagpipes into battle and changed history. Unparalleled Valour is the flagship of the series.

Each episode brings you the stories of those who have carried pipes in uniform — leading marches, steadying nerves, honoring the fallen, and, at times, playing across the battlefield itself. Expect rare letters and diaries, veteran and serving piper voices, regimental history, and on-location storytelling from the places where the music mattered most. This isn’t just about war—it’s about the sound of courage, community, and memory that still echoes when the pipers play.

OUR MISSION
Pipes of War exists to honor, preserve, and share the living legacy of military pipers across history—through film, podcast, writing, and archival research—by telling true, human stories of courage, sacrifice, and service in the voice of those who lived them. We document the role of the pipes in war and remembrance, from the earliest battlefields to modern conflicts, and connect audiences to the people behind the music: the pipers who marched, comforted, rallied, and commemorated. Above all, Pipes of War is committed to respectful, historically grounded storytelling that ensures these voices—and what they stood for—are not forgotten.
